Great Bike

By

from ND

About Me Avid Cyclist

Pros

  • Versatile
  • Handles Well
  • Rugged

Cons

  • Hard to Configure
  • Heavy

Best Uses

  • Cross Country
  • Casual Trails

Comments:

I have had the bike for some time now and there are two things that are substandard. The brakes are not as impressive as I would expect, and the tires are low quality. I have had way too many flats while riding on trails - way above normal. Since then, I do not dare to bike without an extra tire tube and pump.

Cons

  • Brakes

Best Uses

Comments:

I purchased the black 3900 Disc. I have really enjoyed owning this bike. It is stylish, tough, speedy and great for the trails. The only downside the bike may have would probably be the Promax disc brakes. Not horrible, but just think they could be better. Great bike overall though!

Cons

    Comments:

Just purchased this bike on 16 May 2010. Rode it home from the retailer. Gotta tell you! Riding in the city streets with a lot of bumps and potholes. I am sure impressed with this product. This is my first real bicycle that I own! I would recommend this to anyone out there that is starting back in to cycling. If it is for recreational or commuting. This is worth it.

    Comments:

this bike is good, however i've had a few troubles with its components. for me, weak spots have been the seat (which broke on the first day of casual riding), the rims (which would keep bending and had to be replaced), and the brakes (which lasted me about a month or so). it is a very nice frame and as far as weight, mine is about 30 pounds with the few components ive replaced. other than its sub par components, the bike is overall good for a moderate cyclist and is good for upgrading stuff as it fails.

This is the first "real" bike I have ever purchased. All previous bikes were one size fits all style. This bike is great for a big guy like myself (6'2" 225 lbs.). It truly is a joy to be on a bike that is well made and fitted for my size. I will never buy anything buy Trek bikes. Fantastic quality.

Great bike. Was recommended by one of the great and knowledgeable salesmen. Only complaints really are the pedals, and it's a tad heavier than i expected but for where im at skill wise its perfect. Highly recommend this bike

      • Pedals are horrible

      Best Uses

      • Single Track
      • Jumps

      Comments:

I have been riding for about a year now and decided to move up from novice Trek 820. This bike is great for the price and it does everything I could ask for at my skill level. The pedals are horrible though, so you might want to replace them when you first buy the bike. I use the bike on both technical trails and single trails.

Possibly the best bike I have ever purchased. It has the best components and I haven't had to change anything even after doing rigorous 20 km bike rides in unforgiving terrain.
