Trek's Marlin 7 is one heck of a catch. Its Trek super-light Silver Series aluminum frame features excellent geometry for superior cornering, climbing and descending. Adding to those attributes is a set of steamrolling Bontrager wheels and a 100mm-travel fork that smooths the trail and keeps you in control through the roughest terrain. Plus, component highlights include a slick-shifting Shimano 27-speed drivetrain, a host of reliable Bontrager parts and Tektro hydraulic disc brakes for awesome stopping power in all conditions.

Trek's G2 Geometry (version 2 of Gary Fisher's Genesis Geometry) delivers the ultimate ride for every trail. Genesis earned rave reviews for awesome handling on climbs and descents thanks to a long top tube paired with a short stem that moves the front wheel forward for top-notch confidence and control, while short chainstays add phenomenal traction. G2 Geometry takes these handling traits to the next level by boosting control on tight singletrack and technical climbs, too. This is accomplished by increasing the amount of fork offset (reducing trail), which makes G2 bikes steer more quickly, and by shortening the reach, which puts more weight on the front wheel for even better control and confidence. The two animations above showcase how G2 Geometry provides the perfect ride.

Comments:

This bike really impressed me. Was looking for a good hardtail to ride for under $1,100. I couldn't be happier with the Marlin 7. I rode much more expensive bikes and preferred this over them. Of course I changed the cranks, bottom bracket, pedals, grips, converted to a XT 1x10 setup, and got a better set of tires for my type of trails. All in all I am super pleased with this bike. I would buy it again and again. Compared it to many competitors and glad I made the right choice. I also came in way under budget. The sr fork is adequate for most trails in my area but that would of loved a slightly better suspension. For the price I Cant complain though.

WOW... for this price point this is a great bike. Now mind you I am new to Mountain biking, but this bike is amazing. Trek hit it out of the park! Brakes are amazing, wheels, frame, shifters, gears, pretty much everything but seat is on point!
