Trek's Emonda SL 8 is an incredibly light bike that rides incredibly well. Trek set out to make an amazingly light production bike, and they succeeded, with this Dura-Ace equipped bike coming in under 16 pounds. Beyond just light, this is a Trek, and they know that the ride is everything. Stiff where you want it, compliant where you need it. Along with a geometry crafted from pro racers' feedback. Only from countless wins, hours in the saddle, and tons of carbon know-how, can you get a ride like this. Providing the go is a full 11-speed Dura-Ace group with all the smoothness that Shimano is renowned for, while tubeless-ready Bontrager Race wheels give you light weight, snappy acceleration, and the wonderful feeling of never having a pinch flat again. On top of all that, this rocket is adorned with Bontrager bars, stem, and a titanium-railed saddle.
For increased stiffness and improved steering precision, tapered head tubes (see image, on left) and forks pair an oversize lower steerer tube (usually 1 1/2-inch, see image, on right) with a standard diameter upper steerer tube (usually 1 1/8-inch). This combination sheds weight compared to straight 1 1/2-inch systems, and adds stability and stiffness when compared to straight 1 1/8-inch systems. The result is a bike that tracks better through corners while allowing for the use of standard stems.
