|Trek's Domane is a game-changer. It's a high-performance race machine that's also comfortable enough for even your longest rides and roughest roads. Here are some highlights:
|The IsoSpeed fork's rake (offset) has been increased to optimize handling and lengthen the wheelbase for greater compliance over even harsh terrain. It's already been proven with wins in races over the toughest cobbles in Europe.
||The E2 head tube tapers from 1 1/2 to 1-1/8 inch and is wider side to side than front to back. This minimizes weight, maximizes power transfer and improves cornering. |Trek's Domane features a unique bottom bracket that's 90mm wide (traditional ones are 68mm wide). This wide bottom bracket lets Trek build the frame with larger tubes for increased power transfer. Plus, the BB90 is machined so that the bearings can be placed directly into the frame saving weight due to fewer parts, ensuring additional pedaling efficiency and simplifying maintenance and repair.|
For increased stiffness and improved steering precision, tapered head tubes (see image, on left) and forks pair an oversize lower steerer tube (usually 1 1/2-inch, see image, on right) with a standard diameter upper steerer tube (usually 1 1/8-inch). This combination sheds weight compared to straight 1 1/2-inch systems, and adds stability and stiffness when compared to straight 1 1/8-inch systems. The result is a bike that tracks better through corners while allowing for the use of standard stems.

I have ridden over 3500 miles on this bike and I am absolutely sold on the benefits and LOVE this bike. I have ridden an aluminum race bike with a triple chain ring for 13 years and couldn't wait to switch to a 11 speed compact double. The best part is the Shimano Ultegra shifting is effortless and amazingly smooth and precise. I've heard it said that it is butter - totally true! But the thing that convinced me to get this, and what sets it apart from it's worthy competition, is the IsoSpeed and endurance geometry and it has not disappointed me. When shopping I narrowed my choice down to the Domane and the Specialized Roubaix. After hitting some large bumps on a paved trail, the Domane ate them up like nothing I've ever ridden. I've ridden multi-day centuries for a lot of years and riding this bike was the first time that I didn't have ANY soreness getting on the bike for the second day. Was it the carbon frame? The IsoSpeed technology? The endurance geometry? It might be all of it - truly amazing. I got the disk brakes for bad weather commuting. Other than squeaking, it stops no matter the conditions. Comfort and performance in one great package. I am not disappointed and I don't believe anyone would be either.

I ride between 1500-2000 miles a year mostly on rides from 25-100 miles. This bike is very smooth riding on all types of surfaces. The geometry is comfortable for all day riding. It is very lightweight and fast. I rode a hybrid before so this is a big improvement. The actual paint job is not as it appears on the Trek website.
