2016 Trek CrossRip LTD

Trek defines versatile with their CrossRip LTD. It is the one bike that truly does it all: fast road rides, commuting in the city, dirt roads in the country, even cyclocross racing, and doing charity centuries. Its Trek light aluminum frame and vibration-damping carbon fork make it lively, fast and ridiculously fun to ride. Shimano 105 components offer up smooth, intuitive shifting, and the compact gearing spins easily up the steepest of hills. Fender and rack mounts give you gear-hauling capacity, and flat tires are pretty much a thing of the past with Bontrager Hard-Case tires. Plus the Tektro cable-actuated hydraulic-disc brakes deliver sure-fire stopping in all conditions.

    Comments:

First new bike in a very long time. Great bike for re-entry into biking on all sorts of road surfaces. Very stable on loose surfaces and very responsive in turns. Bakes are great. Shifting issue that can't seem to be resolved by LBS on rear set. Needs double tap on on gear coming down. Lots of effort at LBS, but no solution so far. Still enjoy the bike and would recommend it to others.

    Comments:

I got this bike back in November and now have about 3 thousand miles on it. It is a great commuter bike and in fact I am thinking of getting another as a back up commuter. The only issue I have had with this bike is the rear brake cable routing. The opening is routed so it points up and allows water to get into the cable housing. Last winter when I was commuting to work at around 20degree weather it would freeze up. I found that if I tilted it up so the and actuated the rear brake cable after a rainy ride or washing that it would get the water out and then I would add some oil down the housing. It seemed to work.

      Comments:

This bike is exactly what I was looking for. There was one other bike that almost fit my specification but fell short on the cassette specs. the 11-32 10 spd cassette mated with the do-it-all 105 drivetrain allows me to travel through different terrain and conquer steep inclines. I was unsure how the Cable/hydraulic hybrid brake design would perform. But when I tested out multiple models for comparison, I found that the TRP HYRD Brake System far exceeded the performance of the other brake setups and my expectations. I replaced the stock tires with a CX vittoria nail file tread. My only recommended upgrade (I haven't done yet) are the brake cable housing to reduce the slight cable play but other than that it is a very good OEM setup. (Ill be investing in some yokozuna's :) ) This bike is so much fun to ride. I love it more than my carbon road bike and it also makes a very good training bike. If you are looking for an all around road bike that can go on pavement, dirt, gravel, etc. I would strongly recommend this bike.

          Comments:

I use this bike to commute to the train daily and get lost on the weekends. Im writing this review after 3 days of ownership because im convinced its a great product. This is an upgrade from my Fuji cross bike that was slowly falling apart ( only 2 years old ). This bike looks awesome and performs well. The brakes are absolutely fantastic. The ability to feather the braking power between medium-full power just does not exist on other systems i have tried. Adding in the groupset upgrades and cool looks and I think I have found my dream machine. Tim @ VillageCycle worked with me for two days to answer a billion questions I had as I worked through the decision. Excellent service and good sale prices.
