    Comments:

The 3500 disc replaced an aging but far superior 2002 4500 Alpha that got hit by a car. The only thing good about this bike is the frame. It is recycled AL, so right off the bat you know they're gonna cut some corners on it.Welds on frame seem ok but that's where it ends. The SR fork up front is more like a pogo stick. It tops out any time the front wheeel leaves the ground. Brakes couldn't stop you if you paid them. The only original stuff left on it is the seat post, grips, cables, and paint. After cranks, rims, tires, tubes, derailers frt/r, brakes, bars/neck got replaced, the bike is solid, safe, and dependable. I have had Trek bikes off/on since '88 and this is by far the worst product they have put their name on! Price to parts quality ratio aren't even close. This is basically overpriced Walmart bike w/ a Trek name.

This is a great bike. It's tough, rides smooth, handles well. The only con is I'm afraid someone might steal it.

I like the fact that it doesn't break the bank, components are okay for this entry level bike. I wasn't happy about the bottom bracket coming a loose after about 200 miles and the seat get uncomfortable after a bike. Other than that it is a great bike for the price.

          Comments:

22 years ago I was doing collegate road and mountain bike racing. Guess I got burnt out on it because I just quit. Now, I'm trying to get back into shape....if you have ever been down this road it is very exhausting!!! My favorite riding is time trial, but to whip my butt into shape I decided a mountian bike would be tougher on me. This is not a top of the line bike by any means, but if you are looking for a solid piece of equipment that is reliable and tough for a good price, you can't go wrong here. After three months of consistant riding it still works like a dream. I have had questionable performance from the tires...if you are staying on pavement they are fine, but off road you really need to upgrade. Saddle could be better, but everything else seems quality. Would definately recommend this to anyone.

I'm recently retired and decided to take up cycling as a hobby to maintain fitness and found that this bike serves me well, having great brakes, great gearing and lightweight makes my job of pedaling a lot easier so I can go much father and faster.
