Thule Ridgeline 4-Bike Hitch Rack

Thule's Ridgeline rack carries 4 bicycles safely and easily. Thule's T3 cradles hold fast and prevent bike-to-bike contact. And, the arms fold for easy storage, the integrated cable locks your bikes and the installation knob locks the rack to the hitch.

    Comments:

I have owned several brands of hitch-mounted bike racks over the years (Saris, Yakima, Hollywood, and even other Thule models) and can honestly tell you to look no further than the Ridgeline. It is as solid as a rock and the T3 cradles and No Sway Cages hold my mountain bike safe and secure. Hardtails with small frame openings, women's bikes, and full suspension bikes will probably need a cross-bar. This rack will hold 3 bikes comfortably, but putting 4 bikes on it tends to be a very complicated jigsaw puzzle. I would not plan on carrying 4 bikes with this rack very often. I ride a Specialized Stumpjumper hardtail and it fits perfectly on my 2010 Acura MDX hitch. Word of warning: when arms are locked in the down position, the integrated cable lock (male end) WILL slide out and drag the road. Even with the 'pin keeper' in place, my cable bounced loose and got destroyed on the pavement. This was a minor inconvenience and Pedal Power Bike Shop ordered a replacement from Thule (around $20) which is very easy to install. You cannot order this part directly from Thule, but any authorized shop can get one ordered for you. I now cinch a small nylon bag around the end of the arm where the cable lock is seated with a strip of velcro to prevent the cable from ever falling out when the arm is locked in the down position. The 2 inch hitch adapter has very little play when installed over the 1.25 inch base (a good thing for noise reduction). But, I put a strip of electrical tape along each side of the 1.25 inch solid base before sliding the adapter on and have had no observable road noise from the rack whatsoever. Try any rack in this price range and you will end up with the Thule Ridgeline, I promise.
