2015/2016 Specialized Expedition Sport

From comfortable cruising, to commuting, to riding for fitness, Specialized's Expedition Sport ensures you'll have a great ride. Its lightweight aluminum frame boasts an upright, easy pedaling riding position that allows you to put your feet on the ground for easy starts and stops. Up front, a plush SR SunTour suspension fork smooths out all the bumps for maximum comfort and control. To keep you rolling, the Expedition's 26-inch rims spin free and easy, while the 21-speed Shimano drivetrain provides plenty of gear range to climb the hills. Other fine touches include a riser handlebar, flat-resistant tires and a luxuriously comfortable Specialized saddle.

I am fifty eight and had a stroke a few years ago and was in need of some exercise,so I took my mountain bike out of the shed and went for a ride, only to discover that my shoulders wrists and lower backwere in pain. my oldest son was looking for a good quality bicycle and asked me to come along to the bicycle shop. I fell in love with the expedition sport, it had everything I was looking for and more, a great riding position with adjustable handle bars,a good front suspension and a smooth twenty one speed shimano shifter,a over sized seat with a seat post dampener.the welds and paint were excellent and the v brakes actually stop you. having puncture resistant tires are nice to.after riding this bike for three months I find myself wanting to ride it all the time. for the money I think it is a best buy.

I am a fifty eight year old male who enjoys riding bicycles. I ride five miles in the morning after breakfast and five miles in the evening after dinner. I purchased a expedition sport thirty days ago and have been putting the bike to the test. I have gone to bicycle trails and have gone on every bike route I could find. ihave rode all over town looking for rough roads so I could give a honest review. I enjoy the front suspension it works great and the adjustable upright handle bars keep you in a upright postion so your arms and shoulders do not get sore,my hands have not fallen asleep, like most mountain bikes.it has a big compspsfortable seat with springs under it and the seat post has a dampener in it. the twenty one speed shimano and twist grips work flawlessly and the brakes actually stop you. the tires are puncture resistant.i think this is a best buy in comfort bikes for the

I am fifty eight and have been riding mountain bikes for the last ten years, only to receive sore shoulders and wrists and a sore lower back, after going to the bicycle shop and looking at all the new types of bikes,I purchased a new expedition sport and have been riding it now for the last thirty days putting it to the test on all the local bike trails. the sales person told me that this bike had a five star rating and was very popular with people in the forty five to sixty five age bracket, but I recommend it to any body looking for a good comfortable ride. I believe it is the best bike for the buck in comfort bikes, great front suspension and seat and with the angle of the handle bars you sit upright so there is no lower back pain after a good five mile ride. the brakes work great to. I would recommend this bike to anyone looking for a all purpose bike.

Excellent bike! Rides easy and its comfortable. Haven't ridden a bike for almost 16 years and this is only the second new bike I've ever bought. The first bike I bought was a Schwinn Cruiser Supreme (or something like that) back in 1990 and it is heavy. In comparison the Specialized Expedition Sport is about the same size but about half the weight. The one I bought has the Copper metallic paint and looks really nice in the sun.

        Glad we bought them

        About Me

        Comments:

My wife and I bought matching 2013 Expeditions: hers a step-through and mine not. The ride on each is very comfortable with the front suspension and the seat suspension and cushioned seat. The ability to put one's feet one the ground while still seated is a plus for the over-50 age that we are at. Mechanically very sound, no major issues with the set-up or the ride. The Revo shifters are easy to use, especially for me with the touch of arthritis that I have. The v brakes are a bit tricky to get just right, especially if there is even the slightest wobble in either wheel. The rear wheel drive train on this bike is a freewheel-style, not a cassette. One needs to know that should you ever want to make any modifications yourself. The mega-range freewheel by Shimano works quite well: all the shifts are crisp and smooth, and the 34t gear is a real plus when going up a steep incline. The chainrings are setup for a mountain bike-type use, not for an on-the-road-all-the-time usage. I find I use the 24t chainring very little. Top speed on this bike is about 20 mph (I have a bicycle computer on mine), so keep that in mind when considering. All in all both of us are very happy with the choice we made in purchasing the Expedition Sport, and we would certainly recommend.

        About Me

        Comments:

I rode a mountain bike for years but after I turned 40, I couldn't ride it anymore. My neck, back, and wrists would hurt after less than 30 minutes. I tried a beach cruiser for a while but that didn't help much. I quit riding for a few years thinking my bike riding days were over. Then I tried this bike and I was totally amazed at the difference this bike makes. It puts you in a perfect upright riding position. I can ride this thing all day and not get tired or have muscle pains. I look forward to riding every day now and when I'm on this thing, I don't want to get off of it. This is the most effortless bike I ever rode. It practically makes itself go. You don't even think about exercise when you ride this bike. It's just fun and enjoyable and that's all you think about when you're riding it. Of all the bikes I've owned in all my years, this is my favorite. If I ever wear this thing out, I'm getting another one for sure. There's only one more thing I'd like to see on a comfort bike and that's rear suspension. Why doesn't anybody make comfort bikes with rear suspension? The suspension seat and suspension seat post on this bike does work great though.

This bike is SO comfortable, it eliminates the need to go to the gym and sit on the exercise bike. The only thing is the break release is really difficult to attach after you put the front bike tire back on. I hope it gets easier, but it made my back ached because it took so long to connect it. Make sure you try that out a couple of times first at the shop.

Bought this bike to replace a 2002 Cannondale Road Warrior. It was half the price, and for my specific purpose, twice the bike. I've been on the Rock Island Trail several times with this bike and it feels like it was custom built for the purpose. The fat tires can handle any gravel, mud, mulch the trail serves up, but you can still get respectable speed on paved surfaces. Fun and easy to ride. The closest I have ever been as a middle aged adult to capturing the fun and freedom of my childhood bike. The riding position is very comfortable, but you'll probably want additional padding for longer rides (> 20 miles)

              Comments:

A friend let me take his out and within the first 100 feet it convinced me this was the bike! I have a vintage Raleigh from college & a Cannondale mountain bike. They are work to ride and your hands go numb, your butt and scrotum hurt and you get a kink in your neck from the position you have to hold. The SE Sport is like riding an air bike and 15 miles is like nothing. Hills on roads or treks on paths in the woods are great. The 21 speed let's you change gears and it works smoothly, seamlessly and flawlessly. I still have a blast on this bike after a year of riding it and get a smile when I know I'm getting ready to take it out...like that sports car in the garage waiting for you. I wanted the silver with tan seat and tan grips from last year and had to do a nationwide search to find this specific one...This is one that I will ride as long as my legs work. I'm in N.C. & this bike is in Kansas. I'm going to get it in a few weeks...I feel like I'm going to get a puppy. Can hardly wait...that's how good this bike is!
